Naptime

It's 5pm on a Saturday after a great, great day of work and all I want to do is take a nap.  So, that's what I am doing.  We had a garage sale today and yesterday -- the kids brought random items, like snacks, books, hats, etc, and they got play money and were able to purchase items from random stores of their choices in one of the big classrooms.  It was pretty fun -- they even paid to arm wrestle some of us by the end of the period.

Brett, one of my coworkers, and I had a well contest match, and well, the big fella' beat me.  It was a darn good match though. The students seemed to be pretty entertained, with both of our faces turning super red.  Finally, I had to give in, because I didn't see myself slamming his arm down or anything cool such as the sort.  We have one more week to go, and I've been having a blast with these kids.  The staff is great too -- Koreans and my  fella' Americans.  It's been great having that energy I am so well known for, back.  I just need a little more sleep though from time to time.

Anyway, I just felt like laying some thought down on this old screen that sits in front of me so often -- everyone have a good Saturday.  This guy's is almost over for now.

FYI -- Brother Wooyeup told me some interesting stuff this past weekend.  A friend of his, has a friend that was over on the island that the North Koreans fired at a few months ago.  As a result of the events that happened, the soldiers slept for a solid month with loaded machine guns, and grenades ready to launch.  Talk about being prepared for the next fight.

Blah Blah Blah!!!

My self-declared ADD is kickin' in again.  I have laundry going. I need to take some stuff to the dry cleaners.  I want to work out.  At the moment I was writing tests, but have decided to take a break from that.  I'm almost finished with my test writing though, and will be able to finish tonight or tomorrow morning, since I got my little ones anyway for a fun-filled Saturday.

I've had job offers thrown at me left and right here over the last week or so. Part of me wants to stay here, and today I was shocked to see someone come into the office this afternoon before I left.  There's a lady who worked for the company that employed me at the last camp and apparently she's with this company too, or they are all associated in some way -- heck, I have no clue.  She recognized me -- sort of, minus all the hair.  I don't remember her name, but she said there's a decision that's going to be made about the company employing someone at Pohang University (which would be awesome).  Honestly, the only reason  I'd stay in Korea longer would be to work at a college, because those jobs come with some sweet vacation time.

I really want to do this teaching in Georgia program, but you don't exactly make much money doing it, so if this job is open on Monday, I'll see if I can just simplify the process for everyone and say "gimme." Otherwise, some folks are gonna get stood up, and I'm gonna come home for a few weeks, and then head on over to the Republic of Georgia and do my thing there instead.

Here are a few more pictures of me at work with the young ones.  This Ipod of mine spoils me a lot -- the kids are always wanting to take some pictures with it.  I have an attachment problem -- sometimes I do -- it can be to women, cities, college basketball teams, sports, and now my camp kids (there could be more things I am attached to, but we'll keep at that for now).  I always give the boys a hard time, and treat the girls like they are just perfect little angels -- they deserve for the way they act though. I need to get back to making my last test -- I'll get my sleep though - no worries!!

Test Making on a Thursday Night

So we have to have tests made for our classes by Saturday morning -- at least I don't really have anything going on these days anyway.  Zach and I have been making good use of our gym memberships, so that'll help me sleep good tonight.  We were informed yesterday of these tests (maybe Tuesday, I already forgot).  The days are starting to run together a little now.  Anyway, I just now finished making my first test and will get one more done before bed.  In the morning I'll work on another one as well.  Here are a few pictures that I'll leave you with for the evening though.

Time to call it an early night

My kids wore me out today (Wednesday).  I think I pulled an ab muscle or did something else, because I had to deny them of their "swing me" privileges today.  I did invent this new thing called skiing though, that they seem to enjoy.  I take one student or two -- they hold on to my hands, and I pull facing them, like they are on skis.  They enjoy it, but it's just not the same as two of them being picked up at the same time and being swung over my head.  It wasn't just my boys (because two of them weren't here).

 The girls were rough.  It was an 8-3 ratio today -- and they were pretty hyped up about it.  I still had Grace being her usual Angelic self, along with a girl named Emily, who usually comes on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.  My assistant Yebis, told me repeatedly that I looked as if I was really tired, or sick.  I felt fine, just a few of them old man pains though (when you over work your body a lot at the gym, you can use that line).  I did manage 2.5 miles on the treadmill today, with some foreign girl, kickin' my butt on the one next to me.  She's in pretty good running shape compared to me, and that's just fine -- I won't go on a rant about being inferior to her, just because she can run better than me.  Stuff like that happens these days.

Anyway, I'm off to bed for now.  Happy Hump Day wherever you are folks.

Day 3 of Week 3 (Yay!!)

So it's hump day already -- one of my more favorite days of this work week -- my kids on Wednesday are much more respectful to me -- at least the boys are.  Plus, I will be begged over and over to pick my kids up and twirl them over my head numerous times.  We were told yesterday by the manager that we have to make tests to give to the kids next Monday and Tuesday.  Only problem is, the curriculum is too easy for some of the classes, then it's too difficult for others.  There's really no balance whatsoever.  My kids are doing well in this Non Fiction 2.1book they have to do every day.  Then they have this Gold Pass Reader -- yeah, some of that stuff is just over their heads.  Talking about settlers, boomtowns, fossils, plants, stuff that kids who learn ESL under ten years shouldn't have to learn.

Anyway, today should be a fun day - I definitely slept like a babe -- I seem to be dong quite a bit of that here.  I'll leave a picture or two of little Julia -- who is one of those who really loves to yell "Teacher swing, Teacher swing"!! She's a cute one too though, and she makes the work fun.
