Two of my favorite little angels

These two are awesome kids. The little girl is incredible well-behaved for her age, and is really enjoying having two older girls in her class now.
My little buddy Seung Bin here apparently likes John Teacher better than his daddy. I find that a little weird, but anytime I need a hug in the afternoon, he's there for me.

Making Songpyeon

So this-coming weekend is known as the Korean Thanksgiving time (big for those folks who are Buddhists, or non-Christian, especially). So they eat this little treat that we made in class on Thursday morning, known as Songpyeon aka a rice cake (made with rice flour). Yes, I explained how to make something I didn't know to make, at least it was in English though.

Mitch Albom does it again

This story was probably much more predictable in some moments, but it's still a great piece by a man who is definitely blessed with wonderful stories to share with the world.

Just read my post about yesterday's unexpected big purchase, to be familiar with this post.

I've got a hankerin' for Grilled Cheese now

Pretty impressive kid

Of all the negativity in media these days, this one is definitely an article that would stand out in any newspaper. Glad to see the kid is from somewhere near my 'ole stomping grounds though.

Strange, but tasty

Yes, three totally different foods together on one plate. Cucumbers, baby shrimp, and pumpkin in the middle. It was actually quite tasty though.

Unexpected Big Purchase

So while I was heart-broken that I couldn't find this at the bookstore tonight Winter of the World, I found this one instead The Time Keeper. To say I'm excited about this fortunate turn of events is an understatement.

Some not so good shots at Parent's Day (of the balding part at least)

Saturday Class with the Parents

I straight up just copied and pasted this from our school web page, but it worked out pretty well. Enjoy

Funny

this was used for a Parent's Day thing yesterday at work. I let one of the Korean teachers pick some pictures out that were on a Facebook page and this is what she came up with. Very creative though.

This is kind of sad here

of course some pretty boys would do an insensitive act such as this.

Earned some stripes

In  Please feel very humored with this post as well.
As I was encouraging my Kindergarten students to stand up and do an activity with me, I noticed a little fella' in the bathroom. He's one of the cutest little guys in the world too. Kid was in a horrific car accident and was not in our school for a few months. Now back to the story. So he's peaking out of the bathroom, with his pants hanging down, looking for his Korean teacher. She was downstairs doing something since our manager in that building was out for part of the day. I decided to pull some toilet paper out and take it to him. He had this "are you freakin' crazy?" look on his face.

Then by reading that look on his face, I knew that I had to help him take care of his business, or he'd be stuck waiting for his Korean teacher for a little bit longer. So I reached back there, and he popped his little behind up (as if he has a routine that he does during this act), and I earned my stripes or points. I wasn't too freaked out by the whole situation. Being Mr. Germophobe, I was kind of quick to get my hands cleaned. Some of the other students peaked in to watch, but they must be used to seeing the women help out with that, since they thought nothing of me doing it.

I may just have to add a chapter to my glorious book about this mind-boggling (ha ha!) event that occurred in my life today.

Migraine Meds Rock!!!

A little sarcasm thrown in with the title of this post here. I will admit though that whatever the Doc gave me on Tuesday to deal with these migraine-type pains has worked really well. The only problem is that I can't take the stuff at work. I have to pretty much take one dosage in the evening after dinner and that's it. Then I wake up as if I slept through a day or two of life, feeling a little dehydrated. The result has been wonderful -- no headaches or pains when walking up subway stairs (and other stairs as well too).  Coincidentally, I haven't been on Facebook all week too. Maybe both things are helping together.

Still feeling a little out of it

So I'm going to get my head checked out Monday or Tuesday of this week. It seems I may having some kind of migraine issue, or some randomly occurring headaches over the last week or so. Yesterday I taught a special class that included fathers sitting with the children for twenty minutes, while we reviewed some stuff from Hansel and Gretel. The fathers even stood up and sang a song entitled I'm Your Daddy. It was really fun to see them singing, and of course singing in a different language.

Still haven't gotten back to work on that book yet, as I have planned. Hopefully I'll finish some evaluations soon (kindy students are done at least) and then I'll have some more of that good 'ole personal time back.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend wherever you are.

Finally recovered

Sometimes weekends call for a melatonin or two, and even a muscle relaxer to really get the body some good R and R. Friday night only required me laying my head down on the pillow for seemed to be a little rest before going to get some dinner. As it turns out 7 pm eventually turned into about 8 am on Saturday morning. I was dragging all day long on Saturday as a result. So a little melatonin cocktail on Saturday and Sunday evening helped me get things back to normal.

Of course my "free" internet that I borrow from somewhere in my hood isn't working so well these days. As a result of this, I am posting this from work. I don't have a super big data plan with my wifi egg, so I don't want to use it at  home too much. The weather here in Daegu is wonderful these days. Even the kids are acting a little better at times -- then again their energy levels should be higher with the coolness in the air. Too bad the humidity still exists in this city. We are surrounded by mountains, which really helps in the case of weather-related disasters, but sucks when it comes to the concept of mugginess.

There isn't a whole lot that I really want to discuss right now. Thankfully my body is getting back into the swing of things, but we have parental events at the school this weekend and next weekend, so I am wrapped up in that stuff along with doing student evaluations as well. I hope to get that book stuff worked on a little bit as well. I finally put some work in on Saturday night, but it was only about 500 words worth. Perhaps tomorrow I'll be brave enough to add 1,000 words, or at least reword some of what I already have completed.

Hey, college football season is now underway and the WKU Hilltoppers started off with a win.

Happy Labor Day everyone.
