Just a thought

It's amazing how easy my life in Korea and/or the United States really is.

Over the last nine days of my life, I've seen numerous people who work their butts off for a few dollars a day.  Perhaps they sleep in a two room house with three or four other family members.  Maybe they spend half of their life living in a floating village in the middle of nowhere. Or perhaps they live in a house that gets flooded every year, so they have to climb a ladder to another level just to escape the flooding that they are so often used to.  They are farmers, artisans, boat builders, brick-makers, and even mat weavers.  The most impressive thing about these fine Vietnamese people though: no matter how hard their life is, they look at me with everything I have, and greet me with a big smile, a "hello" or even a "you number one".  That's definitely something I don't see very often when I'm traveling around in these various parts of Asia.  Even if they try to get you to buy something you and say "no thanks", they still shoot a smile back.

So, I definitely HAVE to come back to Vietnam again soon.  Perhaps there will be a pretty lady with me next year when I decide to come back here.
