Back to Ho Chi Min City

I'm back in Ho Chi Min City now. I'll add a few photos and another post or two of Phu Quoc later. Stomach bug is making me a little lazier than expected. But I did get some good shopping done at Ben Thanh Market. That place is a must when coming to this city.

I bought some Toms for about 22 bucks, and 5 100g packets of Vietnamese coffee with a little silver filter cut to go with them for about 13 bucks. Then I got some sunglasses off the street for a little over 2 dollars. I opened my wallet to show the guy that it was all I had, and he evidently was not doing so well, and just took that little bit of money. I thought that maybe it was going to be his dinner money for the evening.

Part of my treasure from bargain shopping

Story about the coffee is great. Turns out a little gay Vietnamese guy saw me walking to the exit of the market, after I was finished checking things out for tomorrow. Well, all of a sudden I heard "HEY HANDSOME GUY!". Then I see this little guy come running for me. "You like tea?" "You like coffee?" I wasn't sure how to reply, so just kind of nodded. Then he brought over some awful smelling tea in a canister, that blew me away, if you get my drift. Then he said "You are last customer, so I will give you a great deal." So I said, "Well my friends like coffee." So he showed me the little package that you see in the picture, and said "I give you this for 500,000 dong." I didn't have much money left in my wallet, since I only carry so much for safety reasons, when traveling. I told him "300,000." He said "you are handsome, and you are last customer, so that's a deal. Here is my card, you better come see me tomorrow!" What a funny little dude, he was.
