Happy Tasty Tuesday to you.
First of all, I am making a small change to Tasty Tuesdays. Instead of highlighting a restaurant, I will be highlighting an a food producing company, specific food, maybe a condiment or a tasty treat. This first post is about something I learned about a few years ago. I had no idea this company existed, or even knew that there was a part of Oregon by this name. I have not visited Oregon, so why should I know, right? Wrong. Here we go.
Located around the Oregon coastline, Tillamook is a town of almost 5000. The first time I ever heard of Tillamook was a few years ago. I was introduced to some cheese that came from that area. As I later learned there is actually a dairy co-op by that same name there in Oregon.
According to their website (www.tillamook.org), since 1909 the farmer-owners of Tillamook have been committed to providing families with the best tasting dairy products made in the most natural way. There are nearly 100 farmer families that make up the Tillamook County Creamery Association. As a co-op they are farmer owned, and not owned by a board of shareholders. They have various core values that have passed down over the last 110 plus years such as values over compromise, purpose over profit, and dairy with standards just to name a few.
Tillamook Cheddar Cheese is the product they are most known for producing. There is a wide variety of other cheeses that you can find in stores. Some stores tend to carry more flavors than others, so you just have to be attentive to what you see in the cheese section when you are shopping. The creamery also produces butters, yogurts, ice creams, and sour cream as well.
I tend to shop at Sprouts once every few weeks and they carry my favorite Tillamook product there. I am not big on sweets that I was raised in a house with tons of them being baked on a weekly basis. There is one thing though that gets me almost every single time. The Tillamook Ice Cream Sandwich is made with waffle cone cookies in it. Yes, waffle cone cookies + ice cream sandwich. Now we are talking about something fantastic that I can latch onto for life.
The fine folks from Tillamook Creamery have a vast assortment of ice creams and gelatos as well. You can choose from Oregon Marionberry Cheesecake flavored ice cream, some good 'ole Vanilla Bean, Waffle Cone Swirl, or many others. One name I found very amusing was Mountain Huckleberry Ice Cream. Makes me want to grab some and say "I got your Huckleberry."

If you need, I might even load up a grocery cart and make some special deliveries. You can check their website to see where the nearest retailer is located in your area. You might even find some Tillamook cheese at certain burger joints in the area. One place I know of that does use Tillamook Cheddar is a newer place in town called Hopdoddy Burger Bar in Midtown Memphis and East Memphis, too.
Now if you will excuse me I need to finish my dinner, so I can have a Tillamook Vanilla Bean Ice Cream Sandwich!
